THE ULTIMATE REDNECK GRILL
Tuesday 08-19-2008 10:29am ET

NOTHING SAYS REDNECK AND NRA
MORE THAN THIS GRILL! IT'S AWESOME AIN'T IT!
SERIOUSLY Mr. President!
Monday 08-18-2008 11:57am ET

As people question the "smarts" of the current president...he continues to give them reasons to!

Shown here at the SUMMER GAMES in Beijing holding
up the US FLAG the wrong way! Way to go sparky!!!

Fortunately, the smarter Bush, Laura, corrected him quickly and saved the day. But not before the camera caught the blunder!
A MEDAL WINNING NOLE!
Monday 08-18-2008 10:38am ET
Congratulations Walter Dix

Bronze medal winner at the 2008 Summer Games in Beijing. Walter is a standout national champion sprinter
at FSU. Y ou make the nation proud!
Especially the SEMINOLE NATION!!!
Lift it brudda!
Monday 08-18-2008 9:00am ET

Recently at FSU Fan Day...I was prepared to show off my strength during the "Strength and Skills" competition. I was there at the weights...prepared as I have ever been...focused and about to challenge one of the big lineman...that's when the station lawyers stepped in and said that I was a liability risk and I would not be able to compete! I was sorely disappointed in this ruling.

In case you missed it!

Portia de Rossi and Ellen DeGeneres

The Buzz Weekend Recap

by Gordon Hurd

August 17, 2008

In between a landmark celebrity wedding, the continued mourning of a much-loved comedian, and the saga of a starlet's weight gain and loss (both dramatic), the Buzz had big shoes to fill this weekend.

Bigfoot, or big fat hoax
A ballyhooed press conference culminated the week's onslaught of news stories and parodies about two hikers' account of discovering a dead Bigfoot. Make no mistake, many of us at the Buzz are true believers, but something about this tall tale left us skeptical from head to toe. Whether or not the frozen fuzzy thing is an actual Sasquatch, the two men behind the alleged discovery have raised the bar for stirring up buzz. This story had legs.

For the love of Hewitt's new look

Speaking of legs, we wonder if you recall the hubbub back in November when pictures were released online of a slightly portly Jennifer Love Hewitt. The buzz on this story was mostly negative, though for our money Hewitt looked pretty normal. That didn't keep sites like TMZ from claiming she ate everything in sight and blog commenters from calling her fat. We raised a glass of delicious diet shake in her honor when Hewitt chose to speak out against armchair judges and mean-spirited gossip bloggers. But that wasn't the "just desserts" Hewitt ultimately had in mind. Photos went out this week revealing her new slim look. Can bloggers eat their words?

Love and marriage

It was only a matter of time following California's legal turnaround on same-sex marriage that gay celebrities would begin celebrating their love in a more public fashion. Interest soared this weekend for the intimate nuptials of Portia de Rossi and Ellen DeGeneres. The blonde duo had a small ceremony in L.A., and readers toasted the couple in the Buzz.

Saying goodbye to Bernie

The continued buzz on Bernie Mac proves the comedian was beloved across race, culture, and economic divides. Mac's passing was felt no more deeply than in Chicago. Thousands turned out and streets were jammed with traffic this weekend when Bernie Mac's fans, friends, and family tried to bring closure to the loss of a respected entertainer.

Other stories in the Buzz:

  • We swore by it. You swore by it. We all believed the tale of the teacher who had developed a cure for the common cold. Everyone but the Federal Trade Commission, that is. Airborne Health, the makers of Airborne, settled a class-action lawsuit this week. Consumers who have used the product in the past hoping to keep from catching colds should expect more information about refunds. We'll have to wait for the air settle to find out what will become of the company.
  • We have nothing but faith in the ability of the Olympics to drive buzz. Like most other rounds of the Summer Games, these Olympics have people talking mostly about the side stories. This time around, we expect the tale of confiscated Bibles to be the topic of choice at the water cooler.
