Tropical Storm Fay moved just off the east coast of Florida early
Wednesday after spawning at least seven tornadoes that ripped across
sections of the state, the National Hurricane Center reported.

The storm is expected to hug Florida's Atlantic coastline and
strengthen slightly before making a hard left back into northeastern
Florida, according to the hurricane center.
"This storm is going to be with us for a while," said Florida Gov. Charlie Crist. "Looks like it could be a boomerang storm."
A hurricane watch has been issued for Florida's east coast, from north of Flagler Beach to Altamaha Sound.
Fay weakened throughout the evening as its maximum sustained winds
dropped to near 50 mph (85 km/hr), with higher gusts, forecasters said.
As of 5 a.m., the center of the storm was very near Melbourne and about
15 miles (20 km) south of Cape Canaveral, the National Hurricane Center
said. Fay was traveling north at 5 mph (7 km/hr).
"A gradual turn toward the north is forecast during the next 12 to 24 hours," the hurricane center said. "Fay is likely to remain near or over the east-central or northeastern Florida coast through Thursday."

New Driver For Gibbs...
An open casting call for "All My
Children" is far from business as usual: The soap opera is seeking an Iraq war veteran to play an injured veteran.

The ABC daytime show has created a romantic story
line to combine entertainment and a window into the challenges faced after
combat, said executive producer Julie Hanan Carruthers.
"All My Children" has launched
a broad search to fill the role, inviting veterans to contact the show's New York casting director. The series also is
working with a veterans' support group, USA Cares, as well as the military.
"It will make it such a
heightened experience for the audience and for us ... to cast a real-life
soldier, a veteran, and bring him into our created drama," Carruthers
said.
The veteran-turned-actor will play
the character of Brot, a key figure in a plot that's already under way and
involves a visitor to fictional Pine Valley, Army Lt. Taylor Thompson (Beth Ehlers).
Taylor, who was stationed in Iraq and
is on medical leave, has come to town to deliver medals to fellow soldier Dr.
Frankie Hubbard (Cornelius Smith Jr.). But it's Brot, the soldier and lover she
believes died in combat, who's on her mind.
"It's a very delicate subject to
begin with. There's so much about the individual person that's going to help us
create the character, and whatever they bring and whatever their challenge is
will be fit into the story," she said.
It was Old West style showdown stuff -- Kyle "Rowdy" Busch vs. Carl "Mr. Clean" Edwards.
On the final restart, there were two
laps for all the gold after 400 miles of lead-swapping between NASCAR's
hard-charging gunslingers.
Edwards, in this one, gunned Busch down,
blowing him away in a two-lap dash at the end. The No. 99 driver earned
10 more bonus points, cutting the gap between him and the No. 18 team
to forty points heading into the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.
It was Edwards' fifth win of the year.
And, once again, Jack Roush's stable of Fords proved to be too much for
the competition at this two-mile speed palace beyond the suburbs of
Detroit in what is known as Michigan's Irish Hills.
A caution to clean up the mess made by
Denny Hamlin's engine explosion bunched the field one final time with
less than eight laps remaining.
Edwards, who had traded the lead with
Busch most of the afternoon, streaked away like a rocket when the green
flag waved for the final time.
Busch was second and another Roush Ford,
driven by youngster David Ragan, was third. Greg Biffle, another Roush
driver, was fourth and another, Matt Kenseth, was fifth. Roush cars
therefore finished first, third, fourth and fifth.
Trailing the Roush parade were veteran
Mark Martin, Brian Vickers, Kevin Harvick, Elliott Sadler and Jamie
McMurray, in yet another Roush machine.
